Every day is Earth Day and we’re stepping up to the challenge of the future and we’re not looking back. A few key initiatives to highlight:
We are proud to partner with the National Gardening Association to build and support the gardening efforts at DeSoto ISD. Gardens create living laboratories for students, and we are thrilled to pair top gardening and education resources from the National Gardening Association with Chartwells K12's culinary and nutrition expertise. This partnership will help extend our commitment to nourish the minds and bodies of the students we serve by involving them in the process of growing their own food.
Local and responsible food sourcing: We take pride in offering options that meet our own standards including Rbgh-free dairy, poultry and pork raised with the use of therapeutic antibiotics only; food from local farmers, cage-free shell eggs; sustainable seafood that meets the guidelines of the Monterey Bay Aquarium; tomatoes that carry the Fair Food label from the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, and so much more.
The Eagles Mobile Kitchen Truck rolls in! On-trend food selections and service arrive on campus in a state-of-the-art food truck. Find the Eagles Mobile Kitchen parked near schools for early-bird breakfast service, delivering lunch to sports camps, or showing off fresh-picked school garden produce as a mobile Farmers Market!
Our goal is to partner to create new and expand existing school gardens creating living, learning environments to encourage a solid foundation of good eating habits that will help students live long, healthy lives. We hope to support these efforts both in and outside of the cafe and school day.
